The custom TECH THAI OSC Build is based in the RC2a release, with a lot of excellent mods pre-installed. A lot of these mods are "difficult" ones, that require a lot of editing and changes to the "core" files such as checkout procedure, etc. Over time, I've built this and have them all running sweetly in this package. Most of these are always wanted / recommended for adition to an OSC job, and I got sick of installing these every single time for every customer. Hence, built a package that I can re-use and install repeatedly.
They include:
Simple Template System (STS) Makes the site much easier to customize because the pages are in an easy HTML template format.
Modern Template RC2a for STS Is a very clean looking template for the STS syatem, and is a good starting point for customization.
FCK HTML Editor - for editing descriptions, etc in HTML format.
Extra pages-info box w/ admin Easily add more information pages to your site and modify the "welcome" text on the homepage in an easy to use FCK Editor window.
Magic Zoom Plus Image (this one isn't free - a $62 licence required per site. worth it though. It is a nice touch that makes the site different from other OSC sites. and provides a unique interface that customers really like to use.. Furthermore, it handles image resizing to fit the viewer's monitor on the "click to open".
Extra Product Images Works hand in hand with the Magic Zoom above, or can be used without it to show more product images. This is useful for products like clothing, where you might wish to display the front and back of a shirt, or listings such as cars, real estate, etc where you might want an interior and extrior view. A maximum of 4 extra images can be added to any product.
oscThumb - oscThumb contribution creates thumbnails of your images.
Instead of sending the full size image to the browser and let the browser resize it, which can seriously slow down the loading time of your pages and look ugly, oscThumb will generate thumbnails and save them in a cache folder on your server, for future use.
Also included is the ability to apply watermarks, and encrypt product image URLs to prevent linking and theft by your competitors.
Featured Products - This mod changes the "latest listings" on the homepage to a customer controllable interface, where they can choose which products will appear in this area. This is particularily useful for clients whose product line does not change often.
Product Attributes Sort Order and Clone - Product Attributes are read out from the database and placed into a select box, however the top most attribute becomes the default, with no way to override or set the sort order of the options. This may result in a default item with a price different from the posted price. This contribution allows exact control of attribute order and the ability to copy attibutes to similar products.
ULTIMATE Seo Urls 5 Changes the cryptic php urls for the database driven pages to a "friendly" html format, that uses the product name to create the url.
Gift Voucher and Discount Coupons - The webmaster will have the ability to create "coupon codes" and specify their value as a percentage or a fixed amount. These can be published / distributed to act as a coupon, or created and emailed privately to work as a gift certificate.
Points And Rewards Module A customer loyalty program that a wards points based on the total value of the shopping cart. Also allows points for reviews written, referrals, etc. Highly customizable in the site admin.
Google XML Sitemap Allows google to index your site more easily, and increase your search engine potential.
Western Union Module Collect payments from potential clients who don't have a credit card via Western Union.
Bank Transfer Payment Module Collect payments via wire transfer to your bank account for customers who do not have a credit card or PayPal account.
Free Shipping w/ Minimum Amount An option to simplify the shipping process.
Show Category Names in Product Pages This gets rid of the goofy "Lets see what we have here" text on the category pages, and replaces it with the category name.
Google Adsense Box display Adsense ads on the OSC site to generate more revenue. Easily configurable with your adsense parameters through the site admin.
